Barrie’s total ICI permit values increased by 8% overall in the October-January period year-over-year. Despite the modest increase commercial permit values in Barrie declined significantly while institutional and industrial permit values more than doubled. Institutional permit values in the city tripled, although overall they amounted to less than $2 million over the four-month period, and accounted for 8% of the ICI total. Industrial permit values increased by 155%, accounting for more than half of all ICI permit value issued in Barrie over the October-January period. Commercial permit values in Barrie declined by 43%. Activity in Barrie’s ICI sectors over the past for months were similar to the summer with a commercial sector decline balanced out by significant increases in industrial and institutional permit values.
