Coronavirus Contractor Survey: Spotlight on Civil / Engineering Sector

The survey, entitled Coronavirus Contractor Survey: Spotlight on Civil/Engineering Sector, was done by the Ontario Construction Secretariat (OCS). RCCAO commissioned the survey to gauge how firms that do work in the civil and engineering sectors in Ontario have been impacted by the coronavirus, including the volume of work coming down the pipeline

The survey found that COVID-19 and the health and safety of workers and staff are the overarching concerns of contractors, followed by the ability to get skilled labour, the impact of supply chain disruptions, and the ability of government to quickly roll out stimulus spending on infrastructure projects.

Coronavirus Contractor Survey 4: Stability & Anxiety

The Coronavirus Contractor Survey: Stability & Anxiety is released as the fourth survey in a series of independent studies conducted by the Ontario Construction Secretariat (OCS). Between September 8 and September 18, 2020, the OCS led a Contractor’s Survey of 300 ICI contractors from across Ontario.

The survey provides insights on how the construction industry is showing signs of stability but anxiety of a second wave of COVID-19 persists. Contractors are also expressing some concerns about the outlook of 2021.

The Coronavirus Contractor Survey 3: Reemergence and Adaption is released as the third survey in a series of independent studies conducted by the Ontario Construction Secretariat (OCS). Between June 16 and June 19, 2020, the OCS led a Contractor’s Survey of 200 ICI contractors from across Ontario.

The survey provides insight on how the construction industry is adapting to new safety guidelines related to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Coronavirus Contractors Survey 2: Restart & Recovery is released as the second in a series of independent surveys conducted by the Ontario Construction Secretariat (OCS). Between May 11 and May 15, 2020, the OCS led a Contractor’s Survey of 203 ICI (Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional) contractors from across Ontario.

The survey provides insight on how the ICI construction industry is beginning to recover during the coronavirus pandemic. Health and safety of workers remain top concern for contractors who are facing the impacts physical distancing has on productivity and project costs.

The Coronavirus Contractor Survey: Impacts and Actions is released as an independent study conducted by the Ontario Construction Secretariat (OCS). Between April 22 and April 29, the OCS led a Contractor’s Survey of 200 ICI contractors from across Ontario.

The survey provides insight on how the coronavirus pandemic has affected the industry. Worker safety tops list of concerns for contractors who are also facing significant stoppage of work and looming financial impacts.
