Underground Economy in Construction – It Costs Us All – JULY 2010
The underground economy in Ontario’s construction industry is a serious problem that depletes government revenues, negative impacts legitimate contractors who pay their fair share and ultimately weakens Ontario’s economy. Revenue losses to the WSIB, the tax system, CPP and EI are estimated at $2 billion.
