Ontario’s Q3 ICI permit values climbed by 22% year-over-year to reach their highest ever third-quarter total. The industry’s strong performance was driven by record high commercial permit values, and a 52% increase in institutional permits. However, significant declines in the industrial sectors in Central Ontario and the GTA led to a 14% overall decline in Ontario’s industrial permit values. Ontario’s other regions – Northern, Eastern, and Southwestern Ontario – each had double-digit increases in industrial permit values but these gains were overshadowed by the decline in the Province’s central regions.
