Total ICI permit values increased by three-quarters in Windsor in the September-February period year-over-year. Industrial permit values had the smallest increase, up 18%, while commercial permit values increased by half. Windsor’s institutional permit values had the biggest increase, up 150% compared to the previous September-February period. The most valuable permit was for Windsor’s New City Hall ($25.7 million). A variety of smaller institutional projects also contributed to the growth of institutional permit values, including: two elementary schools ($7.3m and $1,4m), a new EMS station ($4m), a new fire station ($3.5m), and St. Clair College’s new Student Life Centre ($2.6m). These projects are contributing to a strong institutional sector that has been driving ICI permit activity in Windsor for nearly a year. Since May 2016 institutional permits have accounted for more than half of all ICI permit values.
