Statistics Canada began providing building permit data for Belleville at the start of this year. Up through the end of July, $48 million in ICI building permits have been issued in Belleville. Industrial permits accounted for more than half of the ICI total, amounting to nearly $28 million. Proctor & Gamble’s plant expansion is a key driver of industrial activity in Belleville, with a $10 million permit issued early this year. Vantage Foods was issued a $7 million permit in May, as part of its ongoing $18 million expansion, which involves adding a seafood processing line. Belleville’s commercial permit values amounted to nearly $13 million through the end of July, accounting for just over a quarter of the ICI total. Institutional permit values totalled less than $8 million. Belleville’s institutional permit values were almost entirely due to a new fire station project in Quinte West.
