Central Ontario’s total ICI permit values increased by 10% compared to 2016’s third quarter. Institutional permit values in the third quarter are up by 54% year-over-year, while industrial permit values increased by 45%. Both sectors also had significant increases in this year’s second quarter. In the third quarter, the industrial increase was driven by the Kitchener-Waterloo area, while Hamilton-Niagara Peninsula led the institutional rise. Commercial permit values in Central Ontario declined by 22% compared to Q3 2016. Central Ontario’s commercial decline was driven by a 60% drop in Kitchener-Waterloo’s commercial permit values. In the Hamilton-Niagara Peninsula area, commercial permit values in the third quarter increased by 73%.
