Total ICI permit values in Guelph increased by 86% in June-September, compared to the same period last year. Institutional activity at the University of Guelph led ICI activity, as it did in January-May of this year. The university was issued a half-dozen million-dollar-plus permits between June-September, with the largest valued at $15 million. So far this calendar year, nearly two-thirds of the ICI permits in Guelph have been for projects at the University of Guelph, totalling $92 million. Industrial permit values in Guelph in the June-September period declined by 64% compared to last year, amounting to only $3.4 million. Guelph’s commercial permit values were down by 44% in the June-September period. For 2017 so far, both industrial and commercial permit values have declined by nearly half.
