Toronto was the only metro area in Central Ontario to see increases in all three ICI sectors in the June-September period. In 2017 so far, total ICI permit values, industrial, and commercial permit values have reached all-time highs, while institutional permit values are at a seven-year high. At nearly $6 billion over the first three quarters of the year, Toronto’s total ICI permit values have nearly reached last year’s annual total, and already surpassed the annual total of 2014. In the June-September period specifically, Toronto’s ICI permits have increased by almost a third year-over-year. Institutional permit values in this period are up by 83%, to almost $1 billion. Industrial permit values in Toronto increased by 72%, while commercial permit values had a 7% increase in June-September.
