“I don’t really fish or golf – well”, says Wayne Peterson, the outgoing Executive Director of the Ontario Sheet Metal Contractors Association , Toronto Sheet Metal Contractors Association and Treasurer of the Ontario Construction Secretariat Board of Directors. “I might have to find another job”.
The accolades flowed freely all night long as more than 100 friends, family and colleagues – past and present – gathered at LA Primavera Hospitality and Convention Centre in Vaughan on September 22nd. A who’s-who of the sheet metal industry and labour attended, highlighted with remarks by Kevin Flynn(@MPPKevinFlynn) Minister, Ontario Ministry of Labour.
All those who spoke to the gathering used words such as commitment, integrity and dedication.
OCS CEO Sean Strickland described Wayne as “fair-minded, trustworthy and hardworking”. Others were unanimous in their tributes, saying Wayne made a difference in the industry and the legacy he leaves behind will not be forgotten.
Among the gifts Wayne received last night was a sheet metal locomotive presented by Scott Wood of the Ontario Sheet Metal Workers Training Centre and the Directors of the Provincial Training Trust Fund.
Also speaking to the invited guests was Harry Vogt, Treasurer for the Board of Directors of the Ontario Sheet Metal Contractors Association. He described Wayne as an integral contributor to the distinct development of the culture that has characterized the OSMCA.
