Overall, total ICI permit values increased by 238% compared to the previous September-February period. Relative to the previous period though this increase is not as dramatic as it appears. ICI permit values over September 2015 – February 2016 amounted to less than $10 million. Each of the ICI sectors experienced similarly deceptive percentage increases. Industrial permit values increased by 70% but only totalled $3 million. Institutional permit values increased by 313% but only to $7 million, and commercial permit values reached a substantial total but this was up from $6 million previously. Peterborough’s highest-value permit issued in the past six months was for a $12 million recreation centre at the Trent University campus. Despite being on a university campus, this permit was classified as commercial.
