JULY 2017 – BUILDING PERMITS UPDATE
< Go Back to Central Ontario Local Building Permits Menu Page
Brantford’s ICI permit values were up 12% year compared to January-May 2016. The industrial sector is Brantford’s largest so far this year in terms of total permit values. Driven by a $15 million expansion at Ferrero’s cocoa plant, Brantford’s industrial permit values accounted for two-thirds of ICI permit activity in January-May. Compared to the same period in 2016, this is only an 8% increase though due to another major industrial project, the new Mitsui High-tec facility, which received a similarly-valued permit early last year. Brantford’s institutional permit values had the biggest increase, up by a third, but Brantford’s institutional sector only accounts for 8% of total ICI permit values. Low institutional permit values have been an ongoing trend in Brantford, in the last half of last year institutional permits only accounted for 1% of total ICI activity. Commercial permit values were up 16% in the January-May period compared to last January-May.
