Oshawa is the only metro area in Central Ontario with total ICI permit values down so far this year. In 2017, Oshawa’s ICI permit values are down 10%, and in the June-September period, down 22%. Commercial permit values led the decline, falling by more than half compared to last year’s June-September period. Oshawa’s institutional permit values, despite a 12% increase in the June-September period, are down 9% overall this year. The only sector in Oshawa to see an overall growth in permit values so far this year is industrial, up 14%, and in the June-September period, up 38%.
