Ontario`s total ICI permit values in 2017 had the biggest annual increase since 2010, up 23% overall, and surpassing $14 billion for the first time. Permit values also increased in all three sectors in the same year for the first time in ten years.
Industrial permit values were up by 55% in Ontario overall in 2017, and increased significantly in every region except Eastern Ontario, where the sector`s permit values only fell by 1%. Commercial permit values saw a minor increase of 5% in the province overall in 2017, while declining in Central and Eastern Ontario. Ontario`s institutional permit values increased by 42% in 2017, with significant increases in every region except Southwestern Ontario, which saw a 28% decline.
