Ontario’s total ICI permit values for September-February amounted to $5 billion, which was almost exactly the same as in the previous September-February period (Sept. 2015-Feb 2016). Contrasting this province-wide placidness, ICI permit values in Ontario’s outer metropolitan areas saw significant fluctuations both positive and negative. In Eastern Ontario, Ottawa saw permit values decline by half, while both Kingston and Peterborough experienced the opposite, each increasing by over 200%. Strong institutional activity contributed to significant increases in both Windsor and Thunder Bay’s ICI permit values, while despite stability in its institutional sector, Greater Sudbury’s total ICI permit values declined by half. London had the least fluctuation, declining by about 10%.
